Intensified Algebra is a standards-based course designed to prepare students with sufficient mathematics background to meet district and state standards in algebra. The course emphasizes formal development of the algebraic skills and concepts necessary for students to take geometry and other advanced college-prep math courses. It is more slowly paced than the Algebra I course, and covers additional mathematical topics to re-mediate students in the mathematical skills necessary for success in all future classes. Students communicate mathematical thinking verbally and in written form, and apply concepts of mathematics to real-world situations. Students also receive instruction in curriculum and strategies as preparation for standardized tests.
