Work Experience

Grade Level: 9-12

Length: One Semester (5 credits), may be repeated for up to 20 credits

Prerequisite: 9th-12th grade level and currently employed with a valid work permit

Credit: Units are granted based on hours worked. Units are awarded accordingly, 1-10 per semester

Graduation Requirement: Meets LUHSD elective requirement

Course Description: Work Experience is an elective class which combines paid employment or internships with classroom instruction. Students develop work habits, attitudes, self-confidence, job-related skills, and a personal portfolio. Students must obtain a job on their own. The course curriculum teaches students how to get a job, keep a job, leave a job, economic and career awareness.
